Does that mean the service users don't have to pay the extortionate prices of patient line now ?
    Good stuff

No idea, we asked what the ward wanted, they cannot accept money and told us they always need small flat screen TVs and digital radios. As far as we are aware, the TVs are so that patients who cannot sit up can watch the telly.
There is no political or financial motivation to this donation. If the wards had said they needed bright green inflatable elephants we would have donated them.

That doesn’t seem to exist anymore, thankfully
Sadly a relative is spending a far bit of time in hospital and both HRI and Castle Hill have free tv use

You still have to pay for the TV in most circumstances in HRI and it’s expensive.

    Recently?
Must change between wards then as I was in there regularly recently and there was a free flat screen TV on the wall of the ward above the door, in a few different rooms

Mid December, though it’s only the individual TV’s at each bed you have to pay for, not ones in communal areas.

    Interesting
My visits have been pre and post Christmas, but no beds had the individual TVs even as an option, hence me assuming they’d all be removed
They had one TV for the room (4 beds) above the door (which wasn’t very convenient inn the room where the remote had been lost!)
Must be different in different wards then as I wasn’t referring to communal areas

Wonder if individual pay tv's for each bed are only in wards with no communal rooms? I've visited ward 8 in HRI a lot over the past couple of years, no communal rooms but v. expensive pay tv by each bed!

It was Ward 80 that I was visiting in December and there were individual tv’s at each bed.

Ward 8 is mainly for people who can't get out of bed hence no need for communal rooms, I think ward 80 is the same?

Ward 80 is a geriatric ward, you get the odd escapee, but most are indeed confined to bed.
