https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/no-training-ground-at-warren-farm-for-qpr-as-project-is-halted We have identified a new site.! Like ....
Now on the club site: https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/community-sports-facilities-commitment-for-warren-farm/ Hoos says that an NDA is preventing disclosure of the new site for the training ground. I have to say that the club is being incredibly magnanimous in continuing to help Ealing council build a facility for local people. Maybe our owners are just too nice.
Let's hope the new site is in a location where local opposition is very unlikely. Hopefully good news - we need this to happen ASAP.
Generally a man of peace but not sure I could contain myself if in same room as one of those people. Hope they build a residential home for retiring Hell's Angel's that rev their engines and play heavy rock 24/7! Feel better now!
I wanted to say the same but thought better not. Totally agree RTID, I hope they build a horrid housing estate.
Is the NDA because we're still agreeing the proposal to build on site changing rooms that seat 50,000 people and has its own inbuit playing surface?
They must be pretty confident that this new site can go ahead without any major issues coming up to delay or scupper it before deciding to pull out of Warren Farm after all this time and effort ... Or at least that's what you'd hope.
What about QPR in the last 20 years has led you to believe that they are making competent decisions based on facts rather than hubris? More seriously though, I agree - Hoos is not a complete mug like Tony and wouldn't put out that sort of statement unless he's very confident the new site is over the line.
They can return this little thing to his home now the publicity stunt is over. If I had to have a guess where the other place could be, and it is a guess. I have been there several times for drinks and so might have Staines.
I somehow doubt whether the shareholders actually wanted to go ahead with this. They would have to fund it in the face of a massive global downturn which will make them poorer, the club itself wouldn’t get a loan to do this, it has no assets really, apart from the ground. As far as I know Fernandes is still barred from his own airline because of the fraud/bribery with Airbus stuff, and doubtless Air Asia is in deep **** like all the other airlines, and his hotels will be in a similar hole. As trade and construction have also collapsed the other shareholders won’t be in great shape either. They probably don’t want to spend much time thinking about QPR, let alone spend any extra dosh on it. This gives them another 8 or so years breathing space......
I'm sure the SWF group will be delighted when an Asda gets built on that site, as long as they keep a space for all the wildlife and the dog walking eh?
If it's not a massive faux pas to link to another QPR message board, read the comments from Clive (Northernr) on this thread: https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/forum/258237/page:6https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/forum/258237/page:6 Seems like this could actually be very positive. Own the freehold on an existing training complex that you need to upgrade, or leasehold on something you need to start from scratch on with loads of local opposition?
I saw the shouty headline and thought it was TeD.... I had given up about this Warren farm shennanigans ages ago but nice article Beth..
Ok, when I was wishing evil on the Warren Farm NIMBYs, I must confess to not having read the official statement. It does appear WE pulled out for a far more favourable option. Some see TF as a liar in this. For the moment, I see a sound business decision. Time will tell.
