When Jos scored the second goal last night there were three of our lads who tried to run onto the pitch. On tonight's South Today you just got a quick glimpse of them running down the steps in their quest for fame. One of them actually made it to the players but the other two were caught as they tried to get onto the pitch. Needless to say their feet didn't touch the ground as a very efficient group of stewards removed them from the stadium. As the rest of us were celebrating the goal from the stands, I thought it was quite funny at the time but I've since wondered if anyone knows them and how they were dealt with? Does something like that moment of madness get you a long ban from football?
What is supposed to happen is for the crowd to wait patiently for the players to acknowledge to them, that they've scored a goal, and then polite applause can ripple through the supporters, with the occasional... jolly well done, emanating from the odd one or two people. Of course, any more than that would be irresponsible and bad mannered. After all, we wouldn't want Southampton FC getting a bad name because its supporters couldn't control themselves, would we..? Runing around and jumping up and down is for foreign types only, and such behaviour is simply not British.
Absolutely old chap, any form of enjoyment at our success, should be clamped down upon as soon as it starts, you never know it may spread to the grumpy types on here, that would never do would it?
I must admit i was in a group right down the bottom corner and i was very close to the ones who went on the pitch.
Three lads thats went on all got nicked and were released without charge. Back at the mini buses by the time the game had finished.
