Not really good enough . Missed 2 great chances though . Sarr straight down the tunnel with Doucoure . Says it all when a defender is MOTM.
Kabasele - Pereyra played well too . We started both halves well but heads seemed to drop with chances missed. Sheff U were solid
Reflecting on the game the lack of possession and not challenging for the ball all the time was a deliberate tactic to not stretch the team as we have been vunerable on the break. Flores likes the team to be in close formation and that is what they did and it contributed to the clean sheet.
True, but I had the feeling that the Blades attack was pretty blunt, and suspect a better side could have scored against us.
So the secret is to let the other team have the majority of possession Even at home to mid table teams ? I mean who knows - if you do attack you may get caught on the break. Wolves performance at City today should have been a wake up call for us - it's not that their players are better than ours, just that their mindset was different.
The mindset is different. Watford capitulate before we get off the training ground. One thing for sure: if we don't start scoring we aren't going to win anything ever.
Wolves didn't give away any silly free kicks or penalties which helped. None of their full backs kicked the ball into their own area or were too busy doing their socks up waiting for a quickly taken free kick. Newcastle apart form last week when they had 10 men seem to be quite solid in defence and well Man U are so poor I'd fancy our chances of only losing by one to them....or even drawing! I think we looked better in defence mainly because Sheffield United were pretty toothless tbh as OFH says,
I cannot stand his tactics, not the Watford way.. And you need strong players up front... Not sure we have that currently..
But they had less than 30% possession and scored break away goals. Not much different to us except we missed the chances. I know City & Sheffield are different calibre but we have to start somewhere and you can expect more Flores vintage 2015 whilst we are in this predicament which means most of the season.
I am hoping that once the defense is solid then the the team will be given the go ahead to push forward more and defend further up the pitch. Remember we are still in Flore's pre season. Personally I think the Pozzo's will not let relegation happen if at all possible as it would have a serious impact on their business plan and finances. The will do anything to prevent this imo.
They need to do more than thier tactic of changing managers though....... invest in a good striker and prem quality defenders???
