So a little bit of reality needed this coming season as we compare the squad values of the teams in the Premier League we will be competing against and although pundits claimed Norwich spent nothing the 3 relegated teams spent on their squads: · Bournemouth £171m · Watford £181m · Norwich £124m To win the premier league its quite obvious what a club needs to spend and its also obvious what’s possible if a club has a good manager and a good strategy. I will list the clubs in order of squad value and where they finished in the league: Man City £972m 2nd Liverpool £913m 1st Chelsea £752m 4th Man Utd £674m 3rd Spurs £629m 6th Arsenal £519m 8th Leicester £406m 5th Everton £371m 12th Terrible result Wolves £308m 7th Did well WHU £276m 17th Terrible result Villa £209m 16th BHA £207m 15th Saints £201m 11th N/Castle £200m 13th Palace £161m 14th Burnley £139m 10th Brilliant result Fulham £116m 3rd In Championship and already spent big Sheff U £114m 9th Brilliant result Leeds U £58m WBA £54m So we can see the top spenders get mostly top 6 and top 10 positions with exceptions like Everton who spent big and didn’t get what they paid for. The Blunts and Burnley outperformed the market, but look at lowly Leeds and how much they are behind the rest. If we spend another £45m as has been spoken about our squad will be worth £103m and still be the lowest valued squad on paper, but staying in the premier League on the lowest valued squad would be a huge result so the Blunts really did well
Team spirit carried us over the line. Keep that going and with the right players coming in and we will stay up. So it's a no from me to 20 million players and yes to punts on lesser valued players who bielsa can develop.
Can’t disagree with this. Have you seen the pictures of the lads on end of season break. A real togetherness that big money just can’t buy
Looking at the value of the Leeds team at £58 million I have to wonder how this can be when some people are asking £30 million for a player who was good but maybe not the best in last years squad. Or is this just what we paid for the 1st team squad?
Totally agree. I don't think there will be many additions as they will need to hit the ground running where Bielsa is concerned. Still aiming for the top I am!
He is also a very loyal man, I believe if we signed a £25m striker he’d still be on the bench with Bamford starting on our first game back.
The coming week should be a much bigger week on the news front. It seems we will be having a triple signing 18yo Fulham kid for £400k 18yo Joe Gelhart from Wigan for £1m before add-ons 17yo Charlie Allen from Linfield we should also get news of Bielsa signing a new deal may also get to see the new kit with the shirt sponsors finalised
Phil Hay latest According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, Manchester City’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis has been mentioned to him during the week as a back-up option if they don’t get White. The 18-year-old made four appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side in 2019-20, but he is yet to play in the Premier League. Harwood-Bellis formed an excellent centre-back partnership with Eric Garcia at youth level and has been widely tipped to follow in the footsteps of the Spaniard who is now a first-team regular. Bielsa and Guardiola are friends, and Leeds and City have enjoyed a cordial working relationship in recent seasons, so the Etihad Stadium outfit will most likely be keen to let the England youth international move to Elland Road on a temporary basis if they are are assured that he will play regularly.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis would be our 2nd loan player and believe thats all clubs are allowed. It also means that we can spend the transfer cash wiser and have some left to buy a less well known CB.
Bielsa is expected to sign his new contract on Monday but deffo before the lads arrive back at TA on Wednesday
In the current climate it’s better to defer the payment until a later date and use the cash we have to buy others.

We wont be able to loan him, as we already have Harrison, and rules say you can only loan one player from a Premier League club. Edit just to acknowledge Foolee and Wakey have said the same thing, should read the whole of the thread before replying, although I did mention the rules regarding loans the other day on the Dan James thread
Fair play for some reason I thought it was two. I understand the Harrison loan was really to give us an extra £8m to spend. Ive just read something saying Bielsa will only buy one CB this Summer and White is given first chance
Think I’d prefer Foyth but got to trust Bielsas judgement. Can’t see us splashing out the fees being mentioned for White and I’m not sure we should either
