Thought Robbie Fowler was in the frame? He’d be ideal as it wouldn’t be too far from his home. Well I suppose he’d be ideal for any club on that basis as he’s got property in probably every town in England
Why doesn’t Landsdown just pull his finger out and appoint Chris Hughton - best of the bunch. Can’t see wages been a problem if he was rumoured to be offering Gerrard 50k a week. Is it control of the transfers?
Russell Slade has to be in the frame Or how about Gary Johnson, he’s only 7 years younger than Warnock.
No idea, most of the fans want him, and according to the press he wants the job, so no idea what the hold-up is
Very strange. Wage requirements, support team, transfer budget? You can have Flint and Pack back for 2 packets of Players No. 6 and 2 pints of Guinness. And I don't smoke.
Interesting you guys want rid of a Pack and Flint. Flint in particular is held in high esteem by our own ‘LJ Haters’ and is celebrated as one of Steve Cottrell’s buys.
Fair enough Ninian - but I’m genuinely curious as to why you want rid of them so badly - are they really that bad? Flint was a handy defender for us who chipped in with a few goals of his own too, and Pack was our team captain when he was sold to you - quite a shock for us at the time.
Flint - Negatives - oil tankers turn quicker. As a result he has to play deep and is not suited to a pressing game. Poor passer and generally not good with the ball at his feet. Wins most headers but seems to head the ball up in the air so rarely finds a team member and allows the opposition to take the initiative. Positives - good at Alamo type defending when the team lies deep. Will put his body on the line. Good at attacking set pieces in fact our goals from set pieces have reduced substantially since he was dropped. Overall, a useful guy on the bench but cannot be relied upon as a starter in a progressive team.
I’ve thought that for some time Blue Sheep. Ashton does the buying and selling for our club - with astonishing success FINANCIALLY, but he’s not a football manager. I suspected for some time that LJ had little or no day in who he had to work with.
Pack - or as I call him, Trigger. Negatives - passes backwards and sideways too much. Takes too many touches so either slows up the game or gets dispossessed too easily. Not the best defender, gets easily turned the wrong way - see Fulham's 2 goals in the play offs first leg. Positives - a strong voice and a leader on the pitch. Keeps possession to help build attacks but see 2 negatives above. Useful in the air at set pieces but not taking the kicks himself. Good passer when not caught in possession. Overall - not the player we expected. Of the 2 he has been a more regular player than Flint so may get another chance.
We need new players in to kick on. Both can still do a job in the Championship. Weve just finished in 5th and need players out to get new ones in. They just dont get in our best 11. Flint is our 4th best centre back. The only seriously useless player weve both had recently was Jet. Now he was feckin useless. I wonder what happened to him. The Red Lion in Croydon probably.
JET - Jermain Emmanuel-Thomas? I had no idea he went to play for you guys. There’s a thread about him on our board - apparently he wants to sign for us again!
