thought Brown and Ferdinand at the heart of the defence looked good hope they can keep it up and make it hard for Bramble and Turner to get back into the team

Yeah, very impressed with the two of them, with O'shea to come in hopefully at LB, we are looking more solid than last season.

Wes Brown was awesome. Best player on the pitch

What a performance from him. They all played well to be fair apart from Richardson who was pathetic

Looked a different class mate and handled some very dodgy situations well including that half volley out for a corner when Carroll was busting a gut to get round him.

As for Richardson .... no comment!

I loved it when Anton raised his arm for offside against Carroll, didnt get the decision, turned back and easily knocked it away from the big ****er

Wes Brown, you have turned me in 90 mins.

I thought he was a bad buy, but my god he was absolutely magnificent.

    <applause>

If he keeps that up, i will worship the lad, he was everywhere and everything.

The lad can ****ing play as well mate, him and Anton both passed the ball well, Browns anticipation was different class.

Wonderful debut, Anton looked composed alongside him.

Ricco is NEVER a left back, and i previously have been a 'he could be' fella.

Welcome to the club mate, took a while but I knew you'd become one of us....... one of us.......one of us.

Seriously, cracking result today, really impressed by Brown, quite easily MOTM for us. Richardson is dire and can people now realise we cannot give this lad the left back perch. Jeesus 6/7 minutes into a new season he could so easily have walked and left us right init.

with one exception, the whole team did us proud and just reinforces my conviction that this will hopefully be our breakthrough season.

Agree totally with this. Like Bruceys Beak, Ive thought Rico could make it as a LB but today has convinced me he never will.

Looking forward to next week now!!

Yep said earlier that Brown edged MOTM I agree with Scatty too Cattermole was up there.
Dowd was looking for a chance to book him though, soft yellow for bundling into a player.
While the Pool players were kicking chunks out of our players.

We as a club have carried people for far too long, either lack of expenditure, lack of quality or just through the manger perservering with a player that is just simply not fit for the position.

As a certain Mr. Dylan said, times they are a changing. With the players we have to select from in defence (O'shea, Bramble and Turner) and to come back into contention Richardson should never, ever be in contention to start as LB again. Too many chances to become a LB and too many times he's not been able to handle it.

Not a scapegoat, just not good enough.
