please log in to view this image West Ham v Leeds Utd Sunday 21st May @13:30hrs| London Stadium Less than 72 hours after their European semi-final glory in Holland, West Ham are back in domestic action, as they welcome Leeds to the London Stadium. It is hoped they (West Ham) will be too preoccupied with their preparations for European silverware, to worry about about the league, even though mathematically they could still go down, but only if results went against them, and Leeds reversing an eleven goal deficit, and winning both their remaining games, and obviously West Ham losing theirs. During Friday Morning's early press conference, Leeds Manager Sam Allardyce questioned how West Ham will react in the aftermath of their Europa semi-final success, especially with a smaller and weaker squad than the Manchester City's of this World. He believes the confidence in the players has improved since he took over, and has told his players to fight with the right temperament, but be calmer on the ball. Injury wise Marc Roca is sidelined with a tendon injury. He joins Luis Sinisterra (ankle), Stuart Dallas (leg) and Tyler Adams (thigh) on the sidelines. Junior Firpo is suspended, following his red card last weekend against Newcastle Utd. Liam Cooper is fit, and is likely to be recalled to the starting line up at centre back, with Max Wober taking over left back duties. Patrick Bamford is likely to lead the line, though I wouldn't imagine he'd be on penalty duties. The hosts will be without Gianluca Scamacca, who has a knee injury. The rest of David Moyes squad will be assessed over the next day or so, with rotations likely.
Coopers fit so we've a hell of a chance to win this game. --------------------Robles Ayling- Kristensen - Cooper- Wober -------------Koch---------Forshaw Harrison--McKennie---Rodrigo ---------------Bamford West Ham 1-2 Leeds
Yes but no... That's highly likely to be the actual team on the day but it doesn't fill me with any hope unfortunately. On the other hand it's just the starting eleven so maybe the hero matchwinner is coming from the bench to save us.
We need a bit of luck. We are due a bit of luck. It's a great time to play West Ham. I think they'll have got a bit of a lift from winning the semi final but that was their best team and they'll tire after an hour if the start the same players again on Sunday. If they rest players then we play a weakened side. West Hams reserves were beaten 2-0 at Brentford last week but were completely outclassed. Brentford had 24 shots at goal, West Ham had 4. Meanwhile, we are on the upward curve. We should have beat a bang in form Newcastle at ER last week. We got twatted at City but not as badly as Madrid did. I think we've turned a corner. I'm pretty confident going in to this one. We've no Firpo to give a goal away and Cooper allows Wober out to the left instead of Struijk having to play. Much more solid. Of course it's football and with our lot a mistake can pop out of thin air but I reckon we have a very good chance of beating them. I don't see too many problems other than set pieces. If we get enough bodies to repel the set pieces we can win this.
Weakened side, celebrations after reaching final, short rest before playing us..... it's their final home game of the season and all teams want to finish on a win in front of home fans yeah ....and with the extra incentive of giving a guard of honour to the ' ammers legend knolly who was like king Leonidas in repelling the hooded ultras of AZ ....hope big Sammy is ready for a touchline Ali shuffle if it gets tasty darn sarf... You want some son
and Liverpool. I don't want Newcastle throwing any "we've made the Champions League" parties before Leicester.
So no doubt Bamford will be given another chance to prove himself. I just hope it bloody works this time as he owes us big time. "The best way is to go out on the pitch and perform. It would be great if he could score the winner."
We'll win this 2-1. We'll be fine. Spurs will beat us next week though and that might be a tad more nervy.
Don't worry, we will be in the mood to bury Leicester tomorrow night. Qualifying for the CL infront of our home fans. Good luck for today, I fancy your chances of getting a win.
