For all the the talk of a "meltdown" and "firesale" at the start of the season, we have had one hell of a good season. I say thank you to Kat, Krueger, Reed and the rest of the back room staff for getting us through a rough patch. I also say thank you to Koeman, the players and the coaches. All have been brilliant in helping us secure 7th place and getting our highest points total ever. It has been a amazing season and it could get better with us in the Europa league. Well done Saints!! All I have to say now is can it please hurry up and be next season already.
Premier League - 7th FA Cup - Fourth Round League Cup - Quarter Final Played - 45 Won - 22 Drawn - 7 Lost - 16 Goals Scored - 65 Goals Conceded - 41 A sixth consecutive season of improvement under Liebherr ownership. So, how do you rate Ronald Koeman's first season as Southampton manager?
Wonderful season which I've enjoyed immensely. That we were troubling the top four places for a while was a fantastic bonus. 60 points is a great achievement - here's to more next season.
It's been a tremendous season that can be looked back in such fondness. The win at Old Trafford, at home to, Arsenal. The only side except for Man City to not lose to Chelsea. I have loved it all, even through our bad patch. I cannot wait for next season, it can't come quick enough. As for Theo, Alex and Calum, give your old club a boost next weekend. Last thank you to all you guys. We have been through a lot over the past year and have all kept together. Have a brilliant summer and here's to next season !
A great season...not only the points, not only the league position, not only the chance of a Europa place, but the manner of how we did it. Saints isn't just a name, it is who we are.
The GD may have been distorted by three big scores, but the important thing was that we were never thrashed...unlike Liverpool and Spurs. We are hard to score against, but struggled sometimes to score...something to improve on for next season, now our players have more PL experience.
We need to work on scoring away more for next season - Pelle only managed one. Apart from that, we did OK.
Outstanding season, broken so many records along the way. Now to the last game we don't play, but has a massive effect on our season.
The goal difference is not distorted by anything. The goal difference is what the goal difference is. It is what it is. We are where we are. Love Saints.
In 38 years my favourite season as a fan was the league 1 promotion season. Until this year. Everything that happened in the summer, the football we played, our points total, our big wins, our final position and the fact that we gave the 'big teams' something to think about...what a season. I hold my head up high and say with pride rather than quirkiness that I support Southampton FC
The manager and team seem a bit down today....shame we didn't finish on the 6-1 win. Kelvin talked about the team feeling they underachieved. Not true, lads....we are very proud of you. COYR
