What has happened to the board?

Like all things in life they evolve. Newcastle fans on Not606 simply wanted to crack on with each other instead of fighting fires/WUM and sickos. Simple really.

Not 606 will go on but will never have the level of Newcastle fans it once enjoyed.....they came mostly from 606.....and have moved on.

 

No, we voted on it. It ended up 50% yes and 50% no. So we played a game, which AP won. And he decided NO. Then there was uproar and he changed his vote to YES.

It's visible for those who want it, by PMing Skalps, and is also password protected. That way it won't be picked up at people's work places if they haven't got it visible.



By the way, I'm not knocking not606 in any way shape or form. I just think the vast amount of posters meant we just outgrew one board, as ToonSi says. Things were becoming very jaded on here as of late too. We tried expanding to the league two boards but Mick told us to stop

It's only affected this board anyway, the rest of the forum is continuing as per!

I know some posters are missed very much, AB especially, but I understand if people prefer one over the other. I'm not complaining. Just saying, pop over from time to time everyone eh

 

A change has just been made for the better of our forum.

 

Posted the above before I saw your post MM, I will be looking on and catching up on some chat.

 

I think this forum may very well surpass previous levels of activity eventually. Forums activity levels depend on the forums longevity. Its here for the long term and because the Newcastle board is just one section of the forum, this board will have an awful lot of time to build back up. In a years time who knows, we could very be operating at similar levels to before. Of course we're all creatures of habit so get used to speaking to the same folk, but there's an awful lot of people out there to replace those who leave never to return.

Its simply a question of time.

I think most of us leaving (I'm still going to pop back now and then) was down to a couple of things:
1) At the time, there was a significant lull in activity. This seems to get forgotten about, but - the transfer window was over, we were having a meh run of form, there wasn't a lot to discuss and fewer people wanted to discuss it. So a lot of people were growing a bit bored.
2) Then, the board came under renewed attacks - hijacking threads, cross-board threads designed specifically as an aggressive move, a rise in idiotic members from the Sunderland board. (Sorry to the good ones - I used to love the cross-board banter, one thing the new place is missing IMO) Which meant that people got angry.

It's kind of a shame. I like the layout here and I liked the unity we had built up. Plus, our new forum tends to lag a bit in terms of activity... maybe a few more migrations might help. But the fact is for a lot of people this board was becoming a non-safe place. So now, we have a new home. And it has ALL the smileys. n_n

Im too busy actually going too Newcastle games, having sex with the missus or getting drunk too care about a new forum. Bore off and get a season ticket instead of watching games on the internet bunch of arm chair fans anyway
