Thank you. Excellent. Could you elaborate on Grealish going, please? I assumed he hadn’t used excessive force so it wasnt red (didn’t stop me screaming at the time). And I agree about consistency between teams, and yesterday’s ref was particularly bad in that regard. I thought Pereyra’s worthy of red in terms of punishing petulance, but that’s not the Law (it is when I ref as coach at training though ). I’d always thought that was red until I became confused by this ‘excessive force’ malarkey! How am I misreading that? Thanks for your time on this - it’s good to have a decent response because it’s difficult to find definitive answer online.
Grealish I'll deal with later... if you can find a link that shows it then I'll be obliged. Pereyra was a bit more than petulant. It really comes down to your opinion as you see it. I see the ball long gone and Pereyra aiming a kick at the guy's ankle... VC all the way. It's all on the first page of the LotG.* Edit - *Chapter 12 Fouls & Misconduct
He didn't seem to complain too much so guess it was out of frustration rather than trying to be violent.
Tried and failed to find footage of Grealish incident. Turns out there were a lot of goals to show in the videos instead.
Michael Oliver is the best ref in the country, IMHO. He’s big enough to admit mistake, and strong enough to go against the grain and look at the monitor. indeed.
Oh dear - West Ham fall victim to the dreaded handball rule. Good for us but tough on them. Guess VAR had to give that but it's a harsh rule.
If only they had picked the 2 hand balls against us we would probably be 5 points better off even in just those 2 decisions let alone others.
I think we stick with VAR.. Which in itself is great for accuracy etc.. And review some of the rules and interpretations that are now being exposed..
We have had an example in the Everton Brighton game of a player not going firm despite being pulled from behind .. No penalty given whilst other penalties have been given for slight touches but went to ground.
I have a question, hopefully someone can help. This relates to the. Leicester v Soton game yesterday Soton get a penalty for a foul and the Leicester player is yellow carded. VAR shows that the Soton player was offside so the penalty decision is overturned and offside is given. In this situation, is the yellow card rescinded? I guess it would be, but wondered if anyone knew for sure?
