Be having some of that Love laurel and hardy Must go back to the school holidays when everyday you were guaranteed a laurel and hardy short and a World War 2 movie on bbc2
I read the first chapter of the first potter book to my son when he was small, and told him he’d have to wait for the film to find out what happens it was so painful. Still superior to Dan Brown, who is illiterate. The Laurel and Hardy one looks good. The wife also wants to see The Favourite (as it’s directed by the bloke who did Lobster it has a chance of being seriously weird, so I’m up for that) and Mary Queen of Scots (though the fact that the excellent Irish actress who plays her uses a Scottish accent when she undoubtedly spoke with a French one leads me to think it won’t be very historically accurate). She also wants to see Bohemian Rhapsody, I’ve told her I’ll wait for her in the boozer.
My 28 year-old daughter and her boyfriend loved Bohemian Rhapsody, which greatly surprised me. I don't fancy it at all.
Most advert breaks have at least 3 Queen songs behind the products, and I didn’t like them much in the first place. Don’t need any more.
Going to see it this afternoon at the revamped Everyman Cinema at Crystal Palace, reopened after 50 years as a Bingo Hall/derelict it looks stunning and is certainly a cut above the average... https://www.google.com/search?q=eve...fAhUBUlAKHYQ2BEEQsAR6BAgEEAE&biw=1231&bih=647
With competition from Netflix and other streaming services, legal and illegal, cinemas are having to up their game in a variety of ways to get the punters in. My local, within walking distance, has every showing of every film at £4.99. In Stratford on Avon the cinema has been remodelled so the seating area is more like a living room with comfy sofas and armchairs and you can have a meal while watching the fillum. Which I don’t like much, I have no need to have the aroma of other people’s food wafting around while I watch a movie.
It's the difference of whether you want to just watch a film or something a bit more, I see quite a few movies and series on Netflix which works out a bargain if you just want to stay at home. Today it'll be the film which includes a sort of 'room service' followed by a visit to one of the local resturants and a few drinks. There's something for everyone at whatever price you want to pay...
Laurel & Hardy Harold Lloyd Charlie Chaplin Marx Brothers Loan Ranger Flash Gordon Champion the Wonder Horse All followed by a movie, then Why Don't You? Summer holidays were great back then!!
It's also inaccurate in that there is a scene between the cousins, Mary and Elizabeth. In fact, they never met
Cast Away - Felt like you were watching it in real time. The Big Cahuna - Kevin Spacey and Danny De Vito ****ing each other off for 90 minutes, all taking place in a hotel room. The Men Who Stare at Goates - Horrible, total waste of time
And so you should you little tinker it’s George Kennedy The Eiger Sanction also tip top films World watch these two greats now Masterpieces
After one 'Vue' experience, I emailed them to state that I would be very happy to pay a fiver more to sit in a cinema that was adults only and in which food and drink was banned.
I think it's got to the point that this thread's OP has run its cause and should be merged into the review thread. I'll do so in the morning in case anyone has any objections.
