I see there's a chance of snow on Saturday just to make the journey more interesting. Minus something and snow....great! More to the point though, where are people drinking before the game? Most of the websites I've seen suggest pubs near the ground are a bit unfriendly. Anyone been before?
I'm going! it's supposed to be snowing in Birmingham?! as long as it aint enough to get called off i don't mind really.
MEEEEEEE. As I'm up at uni here I have no choice really! The birmingham fans are particularly unfriendly, and there isn't much choice near the ground anyway. If you're getting the train up I would recommend finding a place around new street where there are a few pubs/bars where you'll be more likely to get a safe drink. It's that or a rather flat Fosters or John Smith's at the ground for 3.40
Just checked the latest forecast for B'ham on Saturday. It will not get above freezing all day by the looks of it and a possibility of snow. And with it being cold until then the pitch will no doubt be pretty rock hard. I think it will be fine though.
No, it's Chris Foy another Premiership reject. He always seems to make some strange decisions whenever I've seen him on motd. Here's hoping all they all go our way.
He's not a PL reject - PL refs often get big games in the Championship like Halsey got Pompey v Saints
Let's hope he's better than Halsey who is ****e. In fact they're all ****e. ****e refs and their ****e assistants. When I watch the team warming up before the match, quite often the ref and his assistants are running down the touchline. I'm quite tempted to tell them how ****e they are there and then because they won't be able to hear me during the game.
Halsey is one of the best referees - he had a great game in the Liverpool v Man Utd FA cup match and is one of the few referees who doesn't get his cards out unless neccessary.
The reason I mentioned d'Urso was because of the weather (remember the Charlton game?). Those of you going, stay safe and I really hope the game doesn't get called off!
Tom - have you seen the IFAB proposed law changes? There are some interesting possible changes to DOGSO where a player who fouls an opponent when the ball is in playing distance, inside the penalty area, will no longer be sent off. I am not convinced it will work though and it would give refs a huge new area to interpret. Also proposed are an additional 4th sub in extra time (great idea) and that you cannot score directly from dropped balls to stop players scoring directly after an injury stoppage. http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/ifab/01/57/76/27/6152ifabagenda_final3_withoutcrops.pdf (sorry for off-topic)
I will be going i live in brum! like Bassetsaint said though the brum fans are quite unfriendly tbh so stay away from the pubs outside the stadium. And it is f***ing cold p here at the moment with snow so be prepared for a cold one !!
