These initiation ceremonies into deviant cults can be somewhat humiliating but guess you've been able to dine out on it since?
I agree I’ve also decided I have to accept Redders for what he is. He’s never going to be the player I think he might be in my head. He’s a good team player and we need Stuart Theo and Moussa back if we want players to run at teams ... and maybe Minimetro?
Ralph always plays his strongest team, so same team unless anyone is back and fit enough to start Possibly Forster in goal
Forgot Minamino is cup tied, that's annoying as I thought he looked promising on Saturday. Unless Armstrong's back, it's Redmond and Djenepo on the wings, which doesn't fill me with confidence. Vestergaard will have had a few days back in training for this one (he had just the one session before Newcastle) and hopefully KWP returns, so the back line should be more solid (well, you'd hope so anyway). We look a bit out of ideas going forward at the moment. Adams has never been prolific but he really needs a goal. And it's about time Ings put in the type of performance we've become used to seeing from him. Maybe he's a bit fatigued but he's not looked the same since his recent injury. He has a spot for the Euros at risk and if you believe the rumours, he's expecting interest from bigger clubs this summer. For either of those to happen, he needs to rediscover his form, and it would be welcome timing from the Saints point of view too.
The overriding memory I have from the league match up there, was the ease with which the Wolves players knocked us off the ball. They are all extremely physical and I hope we will be up to the battle, especially if they decide to play for the whole game and not just the second half which seems to be a pattern when they play us. If Djenepo plays, I can see him being metaphorically trampled on by Traore.
Totally agree with your first two lines. Big shame but that’s it & I cannot be he will miraculously improve even with more coaching from KR.
I do have to say, I think Nathan's getting a lot of unnecessary stick. Yeah, he was pretty awful second half, but in the first half I thought he looked one of our more dangerous players. There was one run in particular that was really quite impressive. Those conditions got worse though, and just weren't made for runners - they were made for stodgy defence. He had one particularly awful cross that hit the first man, and I think people are remembering that a little bit too hard...
I just think that overall he doesn't run at defenders enough. It's a criticism I've had of him pretty much since he signed, not just against Newcastle. He's got a bit of pace and he's a decent, skilful player on his day. Maybe he's lacking confidence, but I find he slows attacks down far too often.
Indeed. The stick isn't based on one game. Of course it's not based on one game. Instead, that Newcastle game was a reflection of his entire season - and, maybe, even his entire Saints career (save for a couple of spells, one of which was way back under Puel). There's only so many times you can brush off him having an awful game, or awful half. And as I said at the time, Newcastle was my tipping point. One too many now.
