I see that the second leg of the final between Brondby and Frankfurt will take place this coming Saturday. Frankfurt are 7-0 up after the first leg so perhaps the hammering suffered by the Bristol Academy in the semi final should be viewed as a defeat against an extremely good German team rather than a poor performance by our Bristol women.
what happens when you have fully pro teams in these places we always seem to be playing catch-up to the Germans
Several years ago when I was living in Alberta the Women's World Cup (under 18 or 21 I believe) was held there and when Canada played the Excited States a crowd of over 50,000 was in attendance at Edmonton Commonwealth Stadium. The referee was the worst I have ever seen and the result went against us due to some absolutely atrocious decisions and, if I didn't know any better, I would say the outcome had been predetermined. If you have intentions of becoming a referee then I would suggest that you have a full understanding of the laws of the game, and not make them up as you go along, prior to taking to the field. Not quite sure how I ended up on this track but it is one of the few concessions you get with age.
