    I didn't say they were horrible places to live - just that they're rough and ready.

    I like Portsmouth and it is similarly rough round the edges.

    <ok>

    Its places like Sunderland and Portsmouth that helped bring in the wealth that jumped-up sanctimonious and ignorant southerners in Westminster have squandered for decades!

    I'm proud of my hometown and touchy when foreigners (southerners) have a pop!

    Even if it is a ****-hole in places <whistle>

    That must be the most soul destroying job on the planet. Trying to sell Middlesbrough!

    It’s the only place the Germans never bombed in the war. They flew over, took a look and said ‘**** it, we’ve already done this place’

    Not a lot of people know that.

    Croydon isn't that bad these days, certainly nowhere near as bad as New Addington, that's a proper ****-hole,a giant council estate filled with tower blocks and 1930 prefabs. Croydon is utopia in comparison.

    I like the dock area and old Portsmouth its nice with a lot of history and stuff to sea and places to drink.

    Gunwarf Keys and Port Solent are not bad either.

    The are far worse places.

    Southampton for example - similar to Portsmouth but without the history, places to visit and things to do.

    Just dull and grey with filthy air from all the cruise ships.

    I can think of a pub or two which isn't bad but thats all.

    Piss heads and dock gates - that's it.
