E Exactly. If everyone had been bought into it at the time we could have been decent. Unfortunately we had a money grabbing owner and a manager who wouldn't stand up to him or have a vision for how he wanted his team to play. Pardew was simply not boss enough. Potentially a decent manager could of tried to hold it together better. They all liked playing for Newcastle (I thibk) but the culture in the club was wrong.
Yeah I don't think Pards can take the blame. Standing up to him would have meant walking? Not sure it would have achieved anything really. There is loads you can level at him but I've never understood this stand up to him thing. You have two choices stay and work under the conditions. Or do a KK and walk. You can't reason with a bloke like Ashley, it's his money and asset, he is not the kind of bloke to be told.
No I agree. But what what I was saying really is that he fell in line and didn't help the situation by not standing up for the club enough.
As Hank says it wouldn't have achieved anything. Like any job you either work within the limitations the boss gives you or you walk. Pardew put up with it until he got a better offer from Crystal Palace and then he walked. To be honest I would rather Rafa bites his lip and gets on with the job, if he is being pressured by Ashley. Losing another manager now will not help.
I agree But Pardew should, if he had any integrity, have walked. Instead he became an Apologist for the regime. That is one of the reasons i cant stand the bloke not that i expect he's losing any sleep over that.
I understand it but if you really like the job, it's the best one you've had, it can be a wrench to walk away. He will have developed relationships with staff and players - there is an element of loyalty to your team of people. For all the toxic stuff and bad elements, there is a fantastic club there at heart. I'm sure he loved the club and passion from the city.
