Nice to see Ehab is still paying for the team to get charter jet from Eastern Airways to get back from the long distance away games.
Derby are in a similar boat to us and we played dogshit against them too. It’s possible that our owners have hamstrung the manager and the manager’s tactics aren’t working with the squad he’s got. Both can true; they’re not mutually-exclusive.
you change tactics to suit the players you have & opposition you face. Sticking rigidly to one system is beyond stupid
Honeyman (if fit) for Moncur and Longman for KLP please on Tues after that performance. As for Terry changing his formation, it ain't gonna happen (unfortunately)
I’ve said multiples times on here before the season even started that I felt sorry for McCann because he’s been hamstrung due to the embargo. But the transfer window has shut now and he has to make do. Not scoring in 5 league games on the bounce is largely due to tactics. Reading are under embargo and scored three today against QPR. Blackpool and Peterborough are scoring even when they get hammered. It’s not all McCann’s fault and Ehab has tied one hand behind his back but I can only have so much patience for a man who got us relegated last time we were in this division and stubbornly sticks to one system, even when it’s painfully obvious it’s not working.
Positives, it’s a good point and every point gained will help in the fight to stay in this league, players coming back is another, however players like Wilks and Honeyman who have missed pre season when all the hard mileage is done will be playing catch up . Negatives is sorting our lack of goal scoring and I just wonder if we are good enough to do it on a regular basis. Let’s hope so because five games without scoring is poor. Let’s hope for a much needed win soon which would give everyone a boost.
I think McCann is right. Midfield is a key area and the fitness of the players is well under what is required to compete. Lets get behind them. They will improve
TBH, McCann pisses me off with his tactics, constantly putting out the same dross, BUT, he’s got 2 goalless draws against 2, far superior teams to us, so, until we start playing against teams at the bottom end, how can anyone really say we are failing.
Derby was another team we should’ve been looking to beat. Instead, we were abysmal. We’ll end up getting a 0 - 0 draw against Forest and McCann will cream his pants over keeping another clean sheet.
A team that is expected to be there, or there about at the end of the season. I’m talking about teams that’s expected to be relegation rivals at the start. Peterborough, Blackpool, Derby etc. So a team that hasn’t been really struggling in recent seasons, it’s a decent point.
Getting stuffed six by the blunts must be a kick in the gonads for pish. Hoping Cardiff hammer Forest tomorrow.
IMO it was a really good performance. I remember last season at MK Dons it was not a dissimilar type of game, they had a lot of the ball but didn't really threaten us in the box, largely shots from outside the area. Without Honeyman and Wilks not up to speed, we are a bit toothless going forward, but overall a good hard fort point. Greaves and Bernard as well as Ingram were excellent, and Coyle & Elder worked tirelessly and had good games. I thought the midfield protected the back 4 well, and even though were without the ball for large periods, they were very good without it. I have to say I actually enjoyed the game, as I also enjoy watching a good defensive performance. Finally, Grant McCann can be a real dick at times, his techy interview with RH was not called for and he needs to learn to handle these situations better.
I almost always agree with you John but to describe this abject display as a "really good performance" is hard to understand. I'll agree that the back five did well to save us a point and Ingram, Greaves, and Bernard were very good, but the midfield was in my opinion largely non-existent and played far too deep, allowing Swansea to run at us at will. To me it was VERY hard to watch and McCann's tactics were baffling against a team below us in the standings. I just hope we can show some of the aggression we showed against Fulham in the coming week or we will be in deep trouble !!!
Agree with Canada If Any of those chances in the first half had gone in, what would we have done? just carryon defending? hopefully it might be the point that keeps us ip in the end. But that’s no way to look at it currently as to my eyes it was an undeserved point. We’d be fuming if we played like that and only drew. potter needs either dropping or moving into the middle in a changed formation as his play and performance yesterday wasn’t good enough. I can forgive Wilks who didn’t look match fit. Magennis least said the better.
