Seeing Not Another Muddle in that race, rang a vague bell for me. Do any of you wrinklies remember Another Muddle? Was he ridden by Ron someone? Memory isn't what it once was. Actually, it's what it has always been - terrible!
And finally, for your delectation another 23 runner handicap! And just to make it easier - all amateur ridden
Well done everyone on Simply The Betts. My least favourite day of the Festival and it was hard going today. That must surely be the worst Stayers Hurdle in many a year. The winner was rated 146 and in theory had 23 lbs to find with Paisley Park. Pretty sad seeing Paisley Park and Apples Jade down the field and former winner Penhill pulled up. It's certainly a division needing an input of talent. I'll play Diese Aba in the 5.30 as he seems on the way up and 142 may be a reasonable mark. 5.30 Diese Aba 8/1
Travelled quite well early on but the jockey seemed to wander about a bit with him and he didn't really pick up as I had hoped. Stayed on for 5th and it was quite a good run for a horse having only his 9th start. Apples Jade has been retired and that seems wise as she has not looked like it at all for some time now.
Back from a great day out at the festival. Well Samcro did indeed beat Faugheen. I was and still am staggered by this result. At Limerick it looked like he threw the towel in so to come back in that fashion was remarkable. Some filthy ew thievery kept my head just above water. I thought Happy Diva was going to pay for everything for about 3 seconds but fair play to the Whittington horse who battled back after being headed. The best result of the day was the lovely Rebecca's victory in the Stayers. I took my father in law for the day for his eightieth birthday present. He doesn't fanny about with multiple selections, he just picks one out per race. He had the Curtis horse in the stayers, it paid a little over £85 on the tote. Marvellous.
